Richard McCann has more than 24 years experience in the hospitality and travel industry. McCann, along with co-owner and partner Douglas
Wheeler, formed the Summit Performance Group in 2003 to provide top-notch, custom tailored corporate incentive travel and meeting
management programs for both large and small companies. Under McCann’s guidance SPG has become one of the industry’s leading corporate
incentive travel and meeting management companies serving numerous Fortune 1000 companies. Prior to forming SPG, McCann operated Summit
Incentive Travel, a company that successfully developed and executed custom tailored travel programs for numerous U.S. and international
corporations. The company specialized in corporate incentive travel, event management, site selection and corporate sports hospitality
at such major venues as the Super Bowl, World Series, Olympics and major golf tournaments including Masters and US Open. Previously,
McCann directed the incentive travel division of San Diego’s Fantastic Sports. He also was with La Costa Resort and Spa, where
he served in a variety of sales and marketing executive positions.
Douglas H. Wheeler, Co-Owner & Partner, Summit Performance Group - BIO
Douglas Wheeler has more than 25 years experience in the hospitality and travel industry. In 2003, Wheeler teamed up with co-owner and
partner Richard McCann to form Summit Performance Group as a leading national incentive travel and meeting management company. Today, SPG is recognized as one of the finest providers of top-notch, custom tailored programs for associations and large and small companies. Prior to forming SPG, Wheeler operated San Diego’s Conference Locators International, LLC (CLI) for eight years. CLI was a leading boutique firm that provided clients with comprehensive meeting planning services, including locating and securing group conference space and accommodations, arranging travel and transportation, team building, speakers, sports and recreational activities and conference management services. Prior to forming CLI, Wheeler held a number of national sales and marketing
executive positions with L’Auberge Del Mar Resort and Spa in Del Mar, CA; Grande Colonial Inn in La Jolla, CA; Rancho Valencia Resort in Rancho Santa Fe, CA; La Costa Resort and Spa in La Costa, CA; Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts on Hilton Head Island, SC; Westin Hotels and Resorts in Atlanta, GA; and Boca Raton Resort and Club in Boca Raton, FL.
